INTERSTATE BATTERIES ARE CRAP. NEVER, EVER BUY ONE IF YOU WANT IT TO LAST MORE THAN EIGHT MONTHS.

If I could give less than one star rating I would do that. We bought a marine battery for our boat on July 4, 2024. We put the boat away in September 2024 and brought the battery indoors as our mechanic recommended. We put the boat in the water in May 2025 after putting the battery on a trickler charger for a day.

Within a month, the battery had failed. Dead. Nothing. I charged it.

Thinking that I had left an accessory on. It was a brand new battery! It couldnt fail! I thought.

Two weeks later it failed again. I charged it again. Two weeks after that it failed again. I charged it again.

And then just before we pulled the boat out of the water, in September 2025 it was dead again. So we charged it again and brought the boat to our boat Mechanic in late September for our annual fall maintenance. He told us the battery was dead. He told us the battery had a one year warranty, even though he insisted a year ago this was a great battery with a two year warranty and we should only buy from him.

We paid $252.89 for a marine battery that died after eight months. Never again. Never ever buy a battery from Interstate Batteries Canada, or US. You will regret it.

As we do. I even called the company Interstate Batteries - Canada in mid October 2025 and explained the circumstances. 1-88*-***-****. Gee golly she says, youre over the warranty period of 12 months, so go away.

Nothing we can do. Not our problem. Good bye.

Or words to that effect. The company had the opportunity to rectify this and they chose not to.

Compliments

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I want to compliment the driver in North Florida for his excellent and safe driving.

I was heading to Jacksonville and got behind him somewhere after Ocala.

I know speed changes are frequent and I was unfamiliar with this drive.

I quickly noticed that this truck knew exactly how to manage the trip and I drafted behind him for at least 40 miles. Watching and mimicking his moves.

I felt safe and comfortable knowing when to slow down or speed up.

Sorry I didnt get license plate as I was driving. But this was Friday between 1:00~2:00

Thank him for me.

Warranty is not honored Do NOT BUY!

Interstate Battery went bad after three months , stranded me, and had to jump start it for days . Once I'd get it started and drove it , it quit again immediately and it wouldn't start my vehicle.

The Auto shop I took it to verified that the battery was bad after testing it and making sure there was nothing draining it in my vehicle , U had the invoice as proof with the bad results on it D ... Interstate Batteries in Anchorage Ak. said there was nothing wrong it , and tried to make me take it back. They lied.

They won't honor their warranties and others told me that they had done the same thing to them. Shysters .

I'll never buy another interstate battery again. And I will be now warning people to never buy an interstate battery again in Anchorage

Inadequate product and lack of warranty and replacement values.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

In Martinez, California, I own a business that requires a lot of battery replacement. There is one local parts store that I source my batteries from.

This is the third time I tried to get a warranty on a car battery recently and was not satisfied with the warranty procedures. I purchased a 30 month battery that went dead in 34 months. It was for a customers jaguar. My wife owns a 2016 jaguar with the original battery still installed in it.

Why can't interstate make a battery last longer than three years. very inadequate product. I was informed by my local parts store that they do not prorate batteries. If it doesn't fall within the 30 month warranty, they threw their hands up and said we don't do that.

Then went online to interstate and found a distributor in Benicia California. they informed me that they had a battery in stock and to bring mine over. Once I got there, they said they would give me 45% of my battery worth at retail price. I informed them that I have a wholesale account and I don't pay retail.

they wanted to charge me tax so I provided my resale number which took 15 minutes plus to enter into the computer. I originally paid $177 for this battery and they charge me $129 for it today. I then asked them if my replacement battery had the 30 month warranty like the original one that I purchased and they said that replacement batteries have no warranty. What a crock!

On top of that I had gas and eight dollar bridge fair to add insult to injury. This battery company to me is a pile of crap and I will never buy another interstate battery.

Why did you knowingly purchase a 30 month battery initially? Why not buy what was going to explicitly meet your needs with the terms and conditions you expect?

Great experience!

My battery went dead in my car that hadn't been driven in 2 years. It was a 30-month free replacement battery, and it was 32 months old.

I thought I was screwed. I took it to an interstate battery dealer (Jiffy Lube).

He called interstate, and they replaced it, no questions asked, for free. Super happy with interstate batteries!

Interstate doesn’t actually do warranty’s it’s...

Interstate doesn’t actually do warranty’s it’s always another issue with your car that caused the problem. You can call the warranty Department @ 888 772 **** and they can tell you personally “We know how you feel but there is NOTHING we can do for you” Anyone would be a fool to knowingly buy an interstate battery.

My OEM Porsche battery lasted 9 years I replaced it before it ever gave me any problem. The interstate battery lasted almost 2 years before interstate told me “Sorry there is NOTHING we can do for you” Have a nice day.

Poor performance, very slow to charge. Slow customer service and NOT made in the USA anymore.

Left my xm satellite radio on and batteries went dead. Overnight charging at 40 amps.

The 200 amp start mode on my charger will not start my truck. Switching to Deca batteries.

Sadly interstate isn't what they used to be 15 years ago. Very disappointed in Interstate.

Product Warranty Costco v Distributors

I note that Costco has a prorated 36-month versus 30-month free replacement, in addition to a 72-month proration. I also noted that the Costco product has different performance stats, such as CCA and Reserve. Basically, is Costco's product (24F, Item #162****, $124) different from the distributor's (MTP-24F, $220)?

Pros:
  • National name recognition so they want to preserve a positive one
Cons:
  • Strictly marketing and distribution

Preferred solution: A straightforward explanation

User's recommendation: Warranties can be "local" set by and honored only by distributor and/or national as set by Interstate batteries and honored nationally

Terrible service and bad quality

Not enough support, forget warranty its a joke. Their service and support is a joke.

the retail stores have no system for warranty replacements, you better of going to napa where there are numerous locations. Interstate wont stand by their customers, and longer will i stand by them or their product.

I would like to purchase an interstate battery and I am just looking for a retailer close to me. There appears to be none.

I am in the center of four midsize towns in Texas. I found one retailer in Mineral Wells that says Gee, I dont know which battery you need.I Simply own a 2004 Chevrolet Corvette and my Chevrolet advisor told me go with interstate. There are no interstate retailers within 50 miles of me, hard to believe. Very frustrating.

I have money I have need and I have desire, but I have no retailer. who wouldve figured?

I went to interstate battery dealer with my battery not charging still under warranty. They said they wasn't able to help me.

So I went to the IB dealership on 50th street here in Columbus GA. I met with Bill and I've got to say I was given top priority. He was courteous treated me like I was the only customer.

Very educated about his products. Informed him of other services offered.
